Mitzvah Day

Its Back, Mitzvah Day 2023!
The Liverpool Jewish Community is coming together for Mitzvah day 2023, to support Liverpool in Arms. Liverpool in Arms is a local charity (Charity number -: 1201002) that goes out to the streets of Liverpool on as many days/nights as they can giving out warm food, snacks, drinks, warm clothing, footwear, sleeping bags, tents and a listing ear. They try and make life that little bit easier for those on the streets/or in need. The organisation is run solely by unpaid volunteers and the kind donations of supporters.
They are asking for the community’s support; they would like us to collect the items below. The food items will be cooked by Liverpool In Arms to make stews and soups to distribute to people who are homeless. All the items can be brought to any of the donation points below and then will be taken to a community venue on Sunday 19th November, and sorted by the community. Liverpool in Arms will collect them at the end of the day and distribute.
In addition, the Israeli Community in Liverpool will be running a café/cake stall at event during Mitzvah day Sunday 19th November 1-4p.m. to raise funds to support displaced children in Israel.
Why Mitzvah Day
Mitzvah Day is a day in which communities can come together and get involved in a whole community activity and social action. The Mitzvah Day organisers believe that ‘through social action and by working together, we can make the world a better place. On Mitzvah Day we come together to support local charities, and we each make a tangible difference to our communities through the projects we complete and the relationships we build’.
In this time of division, pain, anger and sadness, the Mitzvah Day organisers invite Jewish and non-Jewish people to do what we all do best, to repair our fractured and grieving world.
